The STePS Social Communication and Autism Team have developed a Transition Toolkit for children and young people with communication difficulties and/or Autism. This Toolkit is designed to be used by school staff to support the transition between year two and year three and year six and year seven. Staff may also find some material useful for transitions to different year groups within the same setting.
Team Introduction and Rationale:
The STePS Social Communication and Autism Team are experienced Teachers and Education Practitioners for Children and Young People with Social Communication Needs, Autism and Sensory Needs. We work within the Specialist Teaching Service as part of the Specialist Teaching and Psychology Service (STePS) supporting mainstream schools to include children with Special Needs.
Primary to Secondary Transition Timeline
This checklist for transition provides best practice guidance for children and young people with social communication difficulties and/or Autism. This will ensure consistency of approach which will lead to success for young people at this important milestone.
