Here at School Transition, we are proud to be part of a network of education professionals and organisations working hard to help learners transition between education settings. Schools within Derby City have benefitted from support from the The School Development Support Agency (SDSA) and Opportunity Areas funding to create a number of projects to support transition. In addition to the Primary to Secondary Transition Portal, other resources have been commissioned as part of the programme. School Transition are delighted to share these resources on behalf of the SDSA:

KS2 to KS3 English: Building cross-phase understanding

KS2 to KS3 English: Building cross-phase understanding

The project aimed to support secondary schools to work with one or more feeder primary schools to specifically address English at transition during 2019/2020. The aims set out in September 2019 were for KS2 and KS3 English teachers to develop a more secure grasp of the pedagogy, knowledge and skills underpinning delivery of the English curriculum in each key stage. The project also aimed to ensure pupils’ progress in KS3 will continue from their KS2 end points and outcomes will be maximised. During summer 2020 transition, the current cohort of Year 6 pupils in participating primary schools experienced learning opportunities to prepare them for the demands of English in Year 7.
